The European Radio Equipment Directive 2014/53/EU (RED) defines a regulatory framework for the placing of radio equipment on the market, establishing essential requirements for safety and health, electromagnetic compatibility, and efficient use of the radio spectrum.
It also forms the basis for additional regulations governing certain aspects such as technical features for the protection of privacy, personal data, and fraud prevention, interoperability, access to emergency services, and compliance related to the combination of radio equipment and software.
In this context, the delegated act (RED DA) on cybersecurity is set to enter into force on August 1, 2025.
