OLIVETTI LAUNCHES TWO NEW TABLETS EQUIPPED WITH LEADING-EDGE TECHNOLOGY

Olivetti is launching its new Olipad 3 and Olipad Graphos tablets, which offer top-end performance from the latest generation of technology, allied to functionality designed specifically for business customers.

The Olipad 3 is the first tablet to go on sale in Italy that combines the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system with a the new 1.5 GHz Nvidia Tegra 3 T30S quad core processor and 21 Mbps 3G HSPA+ connectivity plus Wi-Fi. Equipped with 1 GB RAM and 16GB of storage, as well as supporting memory cards of up to 32 GB, the tablet’s high-speed processing and graphics are optimized for multitasking. The Olipad 3’s 10’ LCD multitouch IPS technology display comes with HD 1280 x 800 pixel resolution. Customers can select a number of options to personalize their tablet, including the addition of NFC (Near Field Communication) technology. Just 8.4 mm thick and weighing around 570 g, the Olipad 3 is particularly light and easy to handle, and comes with a built-in eight megapixel camera. The device offers access to the Android Market’s countless applications. In addition, via Olivetti’s business application-dedicated Application Warehouse store, customers can personalize the device with a wide range of software and services to cater to different business requirements.

The Olipad Graphos runs the Android 4.0 operating system, and is equipped with a 1.0 GHz Nvidia Tegra 2 processor, 1 GB RAM, and 16GB of storage, as well as supporting memory cards of up to 32 GB. Its 8’ 4:3 format LCD multitouch IPS technology display offers HD 1024 x 768 pixel resolution. The device comes with 3G and Wi-Fi connectivity and a USB host port with a standard connector. The Olipad Graphos has a special built-in sensor that, when used with the bundled pen, can be used to write anywhere on the screen. This makes it possible not only to take notes and fill in forms, but also to input a so-called “biometric” (or graphometric) signature from customers directly in digital format documents, ensuring the full legal validity of the signature. The Olipad Graphos has been specially designed for use in simple and complex business applications. It comes with a built-in fingerprint reader to prevent use of the device by non-authorized persons, a protective case with a slot for its electronic pen and, like all Olipads, offers access to vertical applications via the Application Warehouse. These functions make the Olipad Graphos an ideal tool for the paperless signing of contracts, policies and official documents.

The new Olipads are available for purchase from 28 May.

With these new models, Olivetti is set to confirm its status as the number one player on the Italian business tablet and dedicated applications market, where there is strong demand for customizing the specific technical features of a product to cater to customer needs, and appreciation of integration with cloud computing applications, which are available via the Application Warehouse. The new Olipad Graphos in particular broadens the range of solutions available for upgrading to virtual documents, leveraging Olivetti’s graphometric signature and confirming its leadership in a sector that is key to corporate and government process digitization.
